It all began in 1998 with two mothers sharing a common strong belief that children should be children for as long as needed. They wanted to create a comforting friend that would last a childhood of play. A handmade friend with a soft cuddly form, friendly body proportions as well as a warm and cheeky expression.

A Rubens Barn doll takes over 100 different steps by hand to create. Rubens Barn have worked closely with a family run producer in China for more than 19 years. The faces of the dolls are sculptured in soft fabric, for a more emotional and realistic look and to create a friend that would last a childhood of play. Hair, skin & clothes for our organic cotton dolls are made with 100% certified organic cotton. Hair, skin & stuffing for all other handmade dolls are from 100% polyester. Some dolls even have organic wheat from Sweden in their tummies for extra comfort when heated up.
