How is the wool made so soft?

Engel's wool fabric starts with 100% organically produced virgin merino wool. The wool fibres are gently processed and knitted into a soft, dense fabric with a cozy, slightly brushed surface.

Rather than using synthetic fibres to create a fleece-like fabric, the warmth and softness come entirely from the natural wool fibres themselves. This gives the jacket its soft feel while allowing wool's natural properties to shine, it is breathable, temperature regulating and naturally resistant to odours.

The jacket has a comfortable hood to protect little heads and ears from chilly winds, a simple wooden button front and soft wool cuffs that help keep the warmth in. The natural wool fleece is also naturally resistant to odours and doesn't need to be washed frequently — often simply airing it out between wears is enough.

Engel uses finely crimped merino wool, giving the fleece a soft feel against delicate skin. The wool is organically produced and the jacket is IVN BEST certified and made in Germany.

Care

Wool is naturally resistant to odours and doesn't need frequent washing. Airing the jacket between wears is often all it needs.

When washing, use a wool wash cycle or hand wash at cold/max. 30°C with a wool detergent (pH below 7). Do not use fabric softener. If hand washing, gently move and press the garment rather than rubbing, twisting or wringing it. Avoid sudden temperature changes.

After washing, gently reshape while damp and dry flat on a towel. Do not tumble dry or dry on a radiator. Engel recommends a low spin speed of no more than 400 rpm.

Sizing

Engel uses European sizing based on the child's height. For example, 50/56 fits approximately 50–56 cm in height, while 86/92 corresponds to approximately 86–92 cm. This wool fleece style is generously sized, so Engel's retailer information recommends not sizing up.
